Following a consultation seeking feedback on merging the HSC and HSE into a single health and safety authority, the HSC has confirmed its decision to move forward to the next stage. The consultation revealed that 80% of respondents agreed that the HSC and HSE should merge. The proposed merger will bring HSC's governance arrangements in line with best practice, reinforce the links between strategy and delivery, and improve accountability.
