Construction industry urged to take on apprentices [electronic resource]

ConstructionSkills figures reveal that in 2006 England?s construction industry lost out on around 12 000 recruits due to a lack of vacancies offered by employers. Many companies still believe that taking on an apprentice is expensive or that apprentices will drop out, but in fact over 70% of ConstructionSkills apprentices have some of the best completion rates in the industry. ConstructionSkills is urging the industry to acknowledge this and offer more apprenticeship placements in 2007.
