In the year to the first quarter of 2007, the total volume of construction output increased by 2% compared to the previous year. In the first quarter of 2007, output increased by 1% compared to the fourth quarter of 2006 in volume terms and by 2% in current prices. In the year to the first quarter of 2007, the total volume of new work was 5% higher compared to the previous year, but remained unchanged in the first quarter of 2007 when compared with the previous quarter. The number of employees in employment (seasonally adjusted) in April 2007 was up 2% compared with January 2007 and up 4% compared with April 2006.
