Suggests that land owners should voluntarily register their land now in order to prevent problems if mandatory registration comes into force. Since 1990 a change of legal title triggers compulsory registration. The Land Registry now wants a change of trusteeship to do the same. Registration can help protect against court cases, squatters acquiring land by stealth. It also helps when selling. The Land Registry are offering incentives to register now.
