OFT launches groundbreaking study into UK housebuilding market [electronic resource]

Announces the launch of a study into the UK housebuilding industry. The study is to consider potential competition and market consumer concerns. It will question the effectiveness of the planning process in allowing suitable land to be developed. Analysis will be made of whether such land is being effectively converted into residences. Customer satisfaction with the resulting home market will be analysed. Recommendations to government or market sector regulators may be made if the OFT feels from the study that this is warranted. It is currently concerned that the market is failing consumers.
