Strengthened coastal flood and erosion role for Environment Agency [electronic resource] - London DEFRA 2007

Reports that the Environment Agency is to oversee coastal flood and erosion risk management in England. It will also ensure that sustainable long-term Shoreline Management Plans are in place for the English coastline; liaise with local authorities to this end; and ensure that third party flood defences are sustainable. The agency will aim to take a holistic and sustainable approach to flood risk. It will support the implementation of Water Framework Directive objectives. (For full report see L138517.)
