Discusses revised guidance under the Licensing Act 2003 and recent case law. Revised guidance from the Department of Culture, Media and Sport was published on 22 June 2006. This suggests ways in which authorisation for the sale of alcohol by the licence holder can be granted in his absence. A full revision of the guidance is expected during 2007. Addresses liability for underage sales, alcohol disorder zones and planning and licensing issues. Recent case law concerning costs in licensing appeals is also reviewed.
