[2007] EWHC 728 (TCC), 4 April 2007. Concerned a claim for various losses caused by breach of contract, including executive time and wasted expenditure and profit (a split claim). Claimant printing company (B) employed defendant contractor (P) to install piled foundations in an existing factory to support a printing press. The contract included a provision that P required 10 days for completion, and when the work was not completed within this period, B issued proceedings for the costs incurred and for losses resulting from the delay. "Held": judgment for B. The cost of wasted staff time was recoverable even though no loss in the form of additional expenditure could be shown. In addition, the split claim for wasted expenditure and profit was justified and B was entitled to recover the loss of profit on the outsourced work and the loss of profit on the work it was unable to carry out.
