Hain and construction sector vow to cut deaths [electronic resource]

Announces a framework for action to tackle workplace deaths and improve health and safety practices in the construction industry, following the recent 28% increase in construction deaths. Key areas for action include: sharing best practice; improving levels of competence, such as extending the requirement for all site workers to carry a Construction Skills Certification Scheme card; promoting worker involvement in projects; providing site specific planning and induction to those in control of tower crane erection, operation and dismantling; and changing the informal economy in the sector.
