Discusses the increasing costs involved in adjudication and looks at proposals for a statutory framework to deal with this. The framework includes the proposal to outlaw contract clauses stating that decisions as to the amount of interim payments will be conclusive. Argues that this will have little benefit as it will not affect the final payment. In addition, suggests that government's proposals may actually increase the costs of adjudication.
