The "Construction News" Safety Index 2007 reveals the number of enforcement notices against the top contractors has fallen, although this is partly explained by less HSE inspections. The firms with the poorest safety score, Robertson, Tolent and Headcrown, are unchanged from 2006. The larger firms tended to score better, suggesting they are using their resources to deal with health and safety more effectively.
