Reports on contingent liability in commercial property leases. Considers the difficulties which can arise from giving a group company guarantee. A guarantor company can find itself liable to pay the rent on a premises for many years. Even if it obtains a court order vesting that lease, this may take many months especially if the tenant is in administration. Suggests measures which can be taken to reduce the risks and limit the financial loss.
