Looks at the new JCT Management Building Contract (2008 edition), under which the Management Contractor (MC) assists the employer in putting together works packages for tender and then manages the works contract. In the past, management contracts have been criticised for being anti-employer, by exposing the employer to claims, encouraging cost-plus arrangements, and protecting the MC. Considers these assertions in relation to the new JCT contract and concludes that the JCT model is the best among other management contracts.
