The Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act 2007, due to become law on 6 April 2008, heralds a significant change in how serious accidents on building sites will be dealt with. The Act will make it easier to prosecute firms for corporate manslaughter and companies will be hit with substantial fines if convicted, paying between 2.5% and 10% of annual turnover.
