The "Building"/PSB housebuilders' salary survey reveals a 4% average increase in house builder's salaries compared to 2007, with some sectors (such as land and planning directors in the Midlands) earning 11% more. However, such increases reflect the strong market of 12 to 24 months ago, and salaries have started to drop since the credit crunch. In this climate of insecurity, development staff are getting drawn to the registered social landlord sector with its work-life balance benefits.
