Looks at issues surrounding internal floor area measurements for the purposes of rent reviews. Argues that it is prudent to measure these areas even in the event that a lease includes an agreed figure. Gives real world examples of cases where the measurement in the lease differs from one found when measured in accordance with RICS measurement codes. Due to freedom of contract, values can be linked to other properties which are comparable, but which are not totally similar. Considers how these issues affect the drafting of leases.
