Considers the need for expansion of the model heads of terms (MHT) which were included in the Code for Leasing Business Premises in England and Wales 2007 (L137317). Argues that while current MHT provide an invaluable standard, there is need of supplementation in the case of higher value or more complex lettings. Points out problems with the traditional approach of specifying skeletal terms and then adding detail. Argues that more initially substantive provisions will save time. Details each aspect of the lease needing to be considered.
