Presents a systematic refurbishment design procedure and the way of presenting design documents to allow precise refurbishment and preserve existing structures and their components parts. Develops how to produce refurbishment design documents allowing detailed specifications for the refurbishment project. Shows that the findings of this research paper are that a detailed analysis of the structure is necessary to establish a precise refurbishment procedure. Suggests that with a detailed refurbishment design included in the contract, the intentions of the client are very clear and conflicts between the contractor and the client are reduced. Concludes that it also allows to link the contractor payment instalments to completion of part of different elements of the refurbishment.
