Haus proud
Hartwich, Oliver Marc
Haus proud - 2008 - Roof September/October 2008, 24-25(2) .
Discusses differences between the German and British housing markets and points out that new German houses are both larger and cheaper. The author explores what is different in the UK market and argues that an outdated planning system and complicated local government finances are partially responsible for the considerably higher rise in UK house prices over the last few decades. Proposes a shift towards devolved and incentivised planning to try and combat the marked undersupply in the UK housing market.
