Sharp rise in landlord approvals [electronic resource]

The level of approvals under Scotland's Landlord Registration Scheme has reached 85%, up from 15% in April 2007. 131 706 registration applications have been received from landlords and agents, which accounts for 80% of privately rented housing stock in Scotland. Under the scheme, private landlords are required to register with the local authority which covers the area where they let property. The registration lasts for three years, after which it needs to be renewed.
