Recent evidence has shown that two thirds of floods in UK were the result of surface water flooding. This year, the government is expected to table a new Water and Floods Bill, based on DEFRA's long-term policy documents "Future Water Strategy for England" and "Making Space for Water", as well as Sir Michael Pitt's independent review of the floods and their causes (see L144150). The article details the proposals and recommendations of the reviews and the proposed Bill.
