Reports construction statistics for the first quarter 2008 and provides some annual figures for 2008. Public non-residential and infrastructure were the strongest sectors in 2008, and the South of England was the most resilient area for the year. The public non-residential sector increased by 16%, the infrastructure sector by 15%. Suggests that the private housing sector declined by 19%. Construction output reduced by 0.4%. Forecasts that construction output will be 2% lower over 2009-2011. New work order figures saw the strongest increase in London and Kent, Surrey and Sussex.
