The Infrastructure Planning Commission (IPC) established under the Planning Act 2008, is due to receive its first applications for development consent for nationally significant infrastructure projects (NSIPs) in April 2009. Its objectives include the scrutiny of National Policy Statements (NPSs), pre-application consultations and effectiveness of their hearings with reliance on written rather than personal representation.
