Retail activity in the region includes the Crown Estate's purchase of a 50% share in Land Securities' Princesshay shopping centre in Exeter and more occupiers at St Austell's White River Place retail scheme. Exeter business occupiers are spoilt for choice at out-of-town business and science park developments and Valad's city centre Senate building is slowly beginning to fill. But commercial developments in Plymouth are struggling to find sufficient occupier demand. Kilbride is seeking to reinstatement the Bere Alston to Tavistock passenger railway line.
