Message from the Chair about the future of the Infrastructure Planning Commission [electronic resource]

New government is to bring forward legislation next year to replace the Infrastructure Planning Commission (IPC) to put decision making on a more democratic footing. New legislation is provisionally due to be introduced around the end of 2010 and if passed will become law in 2011. A Major Infrastructure Unit is proposed as part of a revised Communities and Local Government structure including the planning inspectorate. Confirms that the IPC will continue its existing duties and the changes will not delay any planning applications.
