Housing Minister Grant Shapps confirmed the Liberal Conservative Government has dropped plans for proposed regulation of the private rented sector. Annual rental threshold for assured and assured shorthold tenancies will increase from the current level of £25 000 to £100 000 from 1 October 2010. The increase will apply to all existing and new tenancies. "Assured Tenancies (Amendment) (England) Order 2010" brings the change into effect.
