Notes that in a five year period there has been a tenfold increase in the number of claims to the Land Registry's indemnity fund as a result of fraud. Argues that the Land Registry has dismissed two obvious solutions to the problem including the closing of the register to public view; in Scotland where searches of registers can only be done by professionals the incidence of fraud is much lower.
