A ruling, "R (on the application of SAVE Britain's Heritage) v Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government has led to new guidance being issued on how to proceed to demolish a building. The Court of Appeal declared that demolition can be a project means that on the demolition of listed buildings, buildings in conservation areas, scheduled monuments and a building that is not a dwelling-house or adjoining a dwelling house will qualify as development and so require consideration in a planning context.
