Explains the history, purposes and powers of the Irish National Asset Management Agency (NAMA). NAMA was set up in 2009 to take the riskiest loan portfolios off the balance sheets of six Irish Banks at a discount. Estimates that €9bn of UK property controlled by NAMA could be sold off by end of 2013.
