Bank of Scotland research suggests that mortgage payments for a new borrower (first time buyers and home movers) in Scotland in the second half of 2011 were at their lowest as a proportion of disposable earnings for 9 years. Mortgage payments in Scotland are lower as a proportion of disposable earnings (20%) than the UK average of 27%
