Total real estate investment activity totalled Euros 23.4bn in Q1 2012, 2% up on the same period in 2011. Volumes were 30% down on Q4 2011. Performance spread widely across Europe's largest markets: UK saw a 2% increase q-o-q to Euros 8.9bn; French volumes dropped by 75% to Euros 2bn; Germany held ground with Euros 5bn invested in Q1. Domestic investment totalled Euros 14.6bn, 32% down on Q4 2011. Cross-border investment was also down on a quarterly basis at Euros 8.8bn. Private property vehicles and companies remained dominant. 2012 forecast for investment transaction volume is Euros 100bn, a fall of 10% from 2011.
