Considers the role of the property professional under the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 which came into force on 6 April 2012. These new regulations focus on meeting three obligations the European Commission ruled were missing from the previous rules. These are; the obligation for contractors to notify asbestos works to the responsible national authority, the obligation for contractors to ensure a prior health assessment is carried out on workers undertaking tasks with asbestos and the compulsion for employers to keep a register of the workers who are or may be exposed to asbestos at work.
