However, many developing countries, influenced by Western styles and techniques, tend to regard it as primitive and proof of a low standard of living. This article reports on research carried out by the Post Graduate Centre (Human Settlement) at the Leuven University Belgium into the use of earth as a building material and various projects it has undertaken in third world countries.
