Outlines the changes made to the Tenancy Deposit Scheme introduced by the Localism Act 2011 effective from 6 April 2012. The changes were introduced to clarify the law in the light of several cases considered by the Court of Appeal. Landlords now have 30 days instead of 14 and now face the risk of penalties for non-compliance which can be between one and three times the amount of the deposit.
