The SOS for Environment has asked the Ministry of Defence to guarantee work for at least five years in order to ensure the future of the PSA thus reversing the policy formulated in 1989 to cut ties obliging government departments to use the PSA after 1 April 1990. Plans to privatise various sectors of the PSA by 1992 have failed to materialise.
