According to Investors Chronicle Hillier Parker `s latest index, shop rents have fallen for the first time in twenty five years. Office rents are worst affected with a fall of 13.3 per cent over the last year. There are also strong regional differences as whilst London and the South-East show a sharp fall, Scotland and the North show a sharp rise, thus reversing the traditional North-South divide .
