"Birmingham Midshires Building Society v Richard Pamplin and Co" QBD 11 January 1996. On B`s instructions, R valued a house in Hampstead for mortgage purposes. It was not R`s usual locality so he contacted four local agents for details of comparable properties and valued it at £205,000. B claimed R was negligent on grounds that the price was incorrect and the valuation was not carried out correctly. B relied on expert evidence and argued that a competent valuer would have valued the property at £140,000. Judgment for B
