The protracted slump in the property market is continuing to haunt the major brewers as the industry enters the final 12-month stage for complying with the Government`s beer orders laid down in 1989. The property slowdown could leave the brewers - which have to sell, or free from `tie`, half of their fully licensed outlets in excess of 2,000 - with more `free` leasehold pubs than they want.
