Based on the responses of over 800 people from eight case study areas in England, the report relays a common sense of overwhelming concern at the growing shortage of suitable affordable housing to buy or rent, anxiety about the impact of increasing numbers of second and holiday homes, frustration at the lack of local involvement in decision making and at inflexible planning and housing policies. Makes recommendations including more effective rural proofing of housing policies at all levels.
