Reveals that two industries, construction and agriculture, forestry and fisheries, accounted for 43% of the 212 fatal injuries in that period. There were 59 fatal injuries in the construction industry, compared to 69 in the previous year, a reduction of 14%. The rate of fatal injury to construction workers fell to its lowest level on record, to 3.0 per 100 000 workers, from 3.5 the previous year. Falling from height continues to be the most common kind of accident, although at 46 this is also now the lowest on record. The rate of fatal injury to British workers is the lowest of all EU member states. Contains graphs, bar charts and tables. |
