The procedures take account of existing best practice introduced in the Town and Country Planning (Major Infrastructure Inquiries Procedure) (England) Rules 2005 and take advantage of powers created in the Energy Act 2004. The new rules will replace the existing Electricity Generating Stations and Overhead Lines (Inquiries Procedure) Rules 1990. Consultation deadline is 1 February 2007.
