| 520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
| Summary, etc. | Presents research aimed at assessing the importance of sustainable homes to the market. Finds that while most UK households consider green issues to be important, they are not keen to pay more for this. Younger families with children give the issue greater weight. The Code for Sustainable Homes will increase build costs by up to £36,000. Since stamp duty exemption only applies to the first sale of a zero-carbon home, the benefit is limited. The cost/value gap must therefore be filled in other ways. Suggests combining environmentally friendly features with other benefits. |
