| 520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
| Summary, etc. | Investigates the rate of loss of city trees within London. Finds that overall, boroughs have planted more trees than they felled. However the gains are not evenly spread. A third of London boroughs, including Croydon and Harrow, have experienced net loss. Many trees are felled because of subsidence claims. These claims are often not substantially investigated and many fellings are erroneous. Recommends greater monitoring of tree population, better quality investigation into subsidence claims, tree replacement schemes and best practice guidelines. Considers the funding implications of this. |
