A more rigorous system for analysing flood defences has been developed. 61% of flood defence structures are in good or better condition than in 2001. However only 57% of all flood defence systems had met their target by March 2007. NAO estimates it will need another £150m to reach all targets. Recommends focusing on medium or high risk areas.
