| 520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
| Summary, etc. | Reports on the current state of flood defences. Identifies work to be done and the investment needed. Since 2001, flood protection has been improved for over 100 000 households. A more rigorous system for analysing flood defences has been developed. 61% of flood defence structures are in good or better condition than in 2001. However only 57% of all flood defence systems had met their target by March 2007. NAO estimates it will need another £150m to reach all targets. Recommends focusing on medium or high risk areas. |
