Points to note include the fact that 70 percent of households are owner occupiers, 18 percent are social tenants and 13 percent are private renters. The authors also highlight improvements of the energy efficiency ratings of housing stock and the fact that lower quartile house prices in 2007 stood at 7.3 times lower quartile earnings. This was an increase on the 2001 figures, which showed that they stood at 4.2 times lower quartile earnings.
