| 520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
| Summary, etc. | Research commissioned by the Resolution Foundation and Shelter to look at residential tenure changes in the private rented sector. Part one examines the Survey of English Housing and its successor the English Housing Survey between 1993-1994 and 2009-2012 breaking the data down by tenure, region, household type and household income. Part two projects these trends forwards to 2025 and explores how tenure structure may develop under three different economic scenarios including a continuing weak economy, a central cautious expansion from a low base and a robust recovery. Concludes that the private rented sector will continue to grow as a mainstream housing tenure choice particularly for London with social renting playing a key role for lower income households. Improvements in economic conditions may lead to a surge in home ownership options particularly outside London. For Main report see L156585 and Appendix B L156592 |
