Summary, etc. DTI has launched FloodRanger, a flood simulator, to raise the profile of the risks and effects of flooding around the UK. The aim of the simulator is to defend cities, towns and countryside in a fictional area of the coast over a 100 year period whilst maintaing levels of housing and jobs for an expanding population. Developed from the DTI's Foresight project on coastal and flood defences, the software is generic but could be tailored to particular environments with the developers.
