520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. Property industries have failed to stop the government from cutting the life of planning consents to only three years. The government had assured the HL that local authorities would be encouraged to extend permissions for complicated or large schemes, so that aspect of the Planning Bill was accepted by the House of Lords. Other issues, such as regional spatial strategies, remain to be settled and the bill is expected to take further debate until agreement is reached.
