Summary, etc. DEFRA has published a comprehensive review of environmental and health effects of municipal waste management as fulfilment of a government commitment to commission an independent review of the available evidence. The review concludes that present day practice for managing municipal waste has at most a minor effect on human health and the environment, particularly compared with everyday activities.
