Summary, etc. The Bank of England has released "Lending to individuals: July 2004". It shows that total lending to individuals grew by £10.4bn or 1% in July 2004. This was £1.1bn weaker than the increase in June 2004. Secured lending grew by £8.6bn or 1%. The value of all loans approved was £23.9bn and the number of loans approved for house purchase in July was 97 000, compared with the average of 119 000 in the previous three months to June 2004. Consumer credit grew by £1.8bn or 1% which was £0.4bn weaker than the increase in June.
